INFRA-QSOURCES Qohm/QohmB

Omni-directional mid frequency sound source

This extremely light and compact sound source was developed to improve both practicality and source omni-directionality. Various technologies were combined with materials like high temperature neodymium, carbon fibre reinforcement and aluminium in the drivers and housing structure. The source presents robustness, high sound power level, the lowest weight and the smallest dimensions in the industry. The new small diameter driver technology also allowed omni-directionality which well exceeds ISO standards requirements. The robust light weight structure provides practicality for any acoustics application.

Features:

-  Efficient field work through extreme light weight
-  Twelve patent pending drivers with both high thermal efficiency and acoustic efficiency
-  Omni-directionality more then two octaves better then the ISO 3382 and ISO 140 standards
-  Sound power levels up to 121 dB with pink noise
-  A smooth spectrum which does not require equalisation
-  A low impedance version QohmB for the battery driven amplifier is also available

Specifications*:

Application frequency range: 50-16000 Hz
Omni-directionality (third octaves): +-1 dB from 50-2500 Hz, +-3 dB from 2500-12500 Hz
(far better then the ISO3382 and ISO140 requirements)‏
Maximum sound power level: 121 dB SPL during two minutes, 116 dB during 15 minutes**
Output level stability: better than 0.5 dB over 2 minutes at 119 dB SPL
Weight: 3.8 kg
Mounting thread: UNC 3/8-16 (common used in tripods)
Sphere dimension: 26 cm diameter
Power requirement: around 600 Watt RMS to 4 Ohm***

* These specifications may be adapted if necessary to improve the quality of the product.
**When excited with low crest-factor pink noise between 80 and 5600 Hz at 25 Celsius ambient.
*** For maximum performance a dedicated light weight power amplifier is available from Infra-Qsources

Applications:

On-site airborne sound isolation

Reverberation and absorption

Hall/Room acoustics

Small up to very large buildings

Road-railway infrastructure

Reference sound power testing

Barrier performance - Building element performance - General airborne excitation

Source directional characteristics:

The tests according to ISO 3382 show an omni-directionality which exceeds the requirements by more then two octaves. The ISO 140 third octave results show similarity directionality. This 30 degrees averaged directionality also shows that the +- 3dB variation is only exceeded from the 16000 Hz band onwards.

Level and spectral performances:

The Qohm source requires around 600 Watt RMS to 4 Ohm to achieve its full performance of 121 dB sound pressure level. When using this source with pink noise, band limited to 80 to 5600 Hz, in combination with the Qam/QamB amplifier maximum performance is achieved.  The octave and third octave curves below show the averaged unequalised spectra up to 16000 Hz.
